A GLAM PICNIC
Memorial Day weekend is less than a week away! Woooo hooo! Nooo work! So what do you have planned? Don't tell me, "Nothing". You can lay in the bed all day and watch netflix, eat ice cream, or maybe catch up on sleep (which isn't a bad idea) ORRRR you could plan a nice chic picnic for you and your boo (or friends if you aint got a boo) ! Yes, girl a picnic! Don't worry its super easy and you won't break the bank because Glam Queen Ash is going to show you how.
A picnic is the perfect way to deeply engage with your significant other or friends. There is beautiful scenery, no constant distractions , good food (if you brought some good stuff) and you can bring your own music. In today's world we are surrounded by constant distractions. By planning something as intimate as a picnic you are showing whoever it is that you want to spend quality time with them. Just lay back relax and eat. What could be more perfect?
Picnic things you will need:
GO. TO. HOMEGOODS. I freaking love this store, they have the BEST picnic accessories! During the spring and summer seasons they have them in surplus. Large, small or medium sized picnic baskets of all styles can be found there. If you don't have a Homegoods store in your area check Macys or one of my favorite websites amazon.com. I purchased my picnic basket a few years ago. It is from the Martha Stewart collection at Macys. The basket is large in size and includes 4 small saucers, cutlery, 4 cloth napkins and 4 wine glasses. My picnic blanket is from home goods. I went with a soft floral oversized throw measuring 60"x70" which is the perfect size for two people. I suggest purchasing a few outdoor pillows so you can get nice and comfy. If you don't want to spend the extra money you can use some old decorative pillows around the house that you don't mind having outdoors on the ground. NOT your bedroom pillows. Remember we are GLAM.
The food is the soooo easy! I didn't cook a thing! Go to your local grocery store and pick up a bottle of wine (I prefer champagne) . Make sure to pack a few bottles of water as well. Head on over to the deli section and get some of your favorite cheese and meats. If this is to overwhelming for you (because there are ALOT of options) just get a pre made meat and cheese tray you will save time and money. Grab a few deli sandwiches and a small salad. For fruit, I decided on strawberries, blueberries and green grapes. For dessert I chose key lime tea cookies and two small slices of carrot cake all from Trader Joes. Soooo good! Easy right? NOW... WITH ALL THAT BEING SAID... You don't have to pack meats and cheeses and all the boujee stuff. Go to chipotle and get a burrito! Eat what you want sis! Just MAKE IT CUTE.
I went with a chic and flowey skirt and crop top that falls of the shoulders from a local store in Houston called Justins. BE COMFORTABLE but cute girl! Don't try to wear anything too tight because you are going to be setting up this whole picnic layout beforehand and TRUST ME you need to be comfortable laying on the ground! If you are going on your picnic before sunset make sure you pack your sunglasses and a nice summer straw hat to help shade you from the sun. WEAR SANDALS or a nice thick WEDGE leave the heels at home and NO SNEAKERS we are trying to be glam aren't we?
